The Powerful Water Metering with ioBridge

Water, it’s one of the most precious and essential materials for all living creatures. You can survive without foods for more than 3 weeks or longer, but if you didn’t drink any water in three days consecutively, then the death is awaiting you for sure!

Unfortunately, many people have very low awareness about the water conservation. It’s maybe due to the environment, where there’s plenty of fresh and crystal clear water running through our home, once we turning on the water’s tap!

Believe it or not, in the next 50 years, water’s price will be bouncing high up to five times or more than today’s current price! In addition, many wars might be happened, due to the desire to dominate the clean and drinkable water.

Frankly, it isn’t hard to conserve the water consumption. All you need to do is build an automatic water meter that equipped with iobridge! This project is very easy and simple. It won’t be a problem at all, if you require some basic plumbing skill.

In this case, you have to install the water meter on your home’s incoming water line, which flips a switch for each gallon of water travelling through it. The switch creates electrical pulses, and then an ioBridge module will count the electrical pulses.

Love the Earth and show your concern on it, by building this water meter!

HuBik – The Pocket-sized 8×8 Array Based on ATmega16

Some people might think, it’s impossible to packs a ton of smart features in a small package! Well, in this case, it seen that you’ve a little bit misunderstood about it. Due to the advent technology, many of the huge-sized electronic components have been modified and compressed into the smallest size, as it could be. Even, some of them can easily fit into the human brain as well!

If you always want to build a pocket-sized 8×8 Array that based on ATmega16, then you should check this project. For your information, this project is given name as “Hubik”, where is a very simple project and doesn’t require any resistors or transistors!

You’ll need two CR2016 lithium cells to power the ATmega16 and the AVR is using internal 8MHz RC oscillator. About the supply voltage, it’s better to be around 6.0V. Although lower voltages is fine, but the image isn’t bright enough, especially the green LEDs.

For this project, you have to connect a button to INT pin of ATmega16. The MCU will suspend itself automatically, if you press it for a while.

By the way, you might want to leave the ADC0 pin unconnected. By this way, you can simply edit the PCB and connect audio input to the ATmega16!

It’s Time to Carry Out The Simulation of Ideal Gas Particles!

When we’re at the senior high school, the physics teacher might have taught something about the forms of solid, liquid and gas! Well, if you still remember what the Physics’s teacher said, those three materials can be existed in different formation, which is depending on the room’s temperature!

So, guys! Today’s we’re back to the past again, where you’re having the chance to test out the stimulation of Ideal Gas Particles here.

Unlike those laboratory test, this project is carried out on a VGA monitor. The main purpose is to stimulate an ideal gas, and displays moving white pixels that represent particles in an ideal gas through the VGA monitor. In addition, it also can be used to perform the proper calculation, especially when the ideal gas are collided on each other or within the edge of the VGA monitor screen!

First of all, you have to build a state machine on the DE2 development board. This state machine is responsible for keeping track of the particle coordinates and velocities in m4k blocks.

By the way, if you’ve encountered the inaccuracy in the distance approximation in collisions, then you should shift the dot product by different amounts according what range the distance. Never underestimate the small inaccuracy, as it might cause the particles to lose energy over time!

The High Accuracy PIC 16F877A LCD 100W HF SWR Meter

SWR, isn’t this acronym sounds familiar to you here? Well, you’re damn right about it! SWR is actually a short acronym for “Standing Wave Ratio”, which is the ratio of the amplitude of a partial standing wave at an antinode to the amplitude at opposite node. The transmissions are normally handle through an electrical transmission line.

Technically, the SWR is defined as a voltage ration called the “VSWR”, which is meaning for “Voltage Standing Wave Ratio”.

If you want to measure the SWR, then you’ll need to use the SWR meter. Basically, the SWR meter is an item of radio equipment that being used to check the quality of the match between the antenna and the transmission line. To use the SWR meter, you must connect it onto the line as close as possible to the antenna, as this can reduce the amount of energy loss to the minimal level.

Due to the expensive LCD meter, many of the radio amateur run their radio station without an SWR meter at all! For those that encountered the same problem, maybe this high accuracy PIC 16F877A LCD 100W HF SWR Meter is what you’re looking for in long time…
