LED Sunrise Alarm Clock Will Help You Away From The SAD!

Sometimes, people are very vulnerable, as they’re having constantly getting affected by the environment’s changes surrounding them. Let’s take an example. Did you know that there is a disease called ‘SAD’ (Seasonal Affective Disorder) and only happens on people during the winter?

Basically, SAD is a mood disorder. Although it can’t be deadly, but it will cause some severe symptoms on the people, such as irritability, oversleeping, tiredness, not being able to get out of bed on time, depression and joint pain. Honestly, it can be very torturing, as the people who getting this SAD needs to suffer with it throughout the winter.

LED Sunrise Alarm Clock

In order to avoid the problem happening on you, it’s better for you to build a LED Sunrise Alarm Clock.

Well, believe it or not, this small LED Sunrise Alarm Clock would provide adequate bright light, just like the sunrise’s light. Every time when the alarm clock is ringing, it starts to emit the bright sunrise light, which is mean time to wake up from bed!

The project is built and run on an ATmega168, where is fully open source. You wouldn’t have any problem to get this thing done, even all by yourself.

Don’t just standing there, grab the chance, develop a LED Sunrise Alarm Clock, and wipe the SAD away during the winter.

Have a Brand New Experience with Weather Canvas!

Mother Nature is always full with many unexpected surprises. That is why some people enjoy the outdoor activities, such as hiking, trekking, kayaking and so on, rather than staying at home in weekend!

The only matter is weather is constantly change and unpredictable. Maybe it full with sunshine in the morning, but it rains heavily in the afternoon! It will cause some difficulty, especially for those who planning to have some outdoor activities.

In this case, you might need an assistant to help you overcome the matter. Well, Weather Canvas is coming for the rescue!

Weather Canvas

A little bit different from other DIY weather station, Weather Canvas is a outdoor wireless weather monitoring system coupled with an indoor LED display.

For your information, the outdoor system consists of a microcontroller, temperature sensor, humidity sensor, self-DIY anemometer, a Hot Wheels radar gun (It’s for measuring precipitation) and a solar panel to measure sunlight, also charge the microcontroller’s power source!

This is how the Weather Canvas works:

  1. In the very beginning, the system is transmitting the data it has collected to the indoor microcontroller by a 433 MHz RF signal.

  2. After it, the signal is decoded and the information is displayed as a sequence of five vibrant images on the 8×8 RGB LED matrix.

Stop wasting your time here and let’s build your very own Weather Canvas today!

Arduino Based Drum Kit

When you looking at the thread title, you might think, “Nah, it’s another damn boring Arduino Based Drum kit around, there’s nothing special about this stuff!” First of all, don’t be so sure about it, as you haven’t read the whole story yet…

Frankly, if you have the talent, it’s a piece of cake for you to build a sophisticated Arduino Based Drum set.

Since the kit contains all the required parts, you only need to supply the Arduino and the material to make the actual drum pads!

Arduino Based Drum Kit

It’s very simple to build the circuit board, as all the instructions have been stated in the drum kit. All you need to do here is following the instruction thoroughly, and you can get the circuit done in a few minutes.

Same with the circuit part, it’s as easy as ABC to build the drum pads. Each drum pad contains three sections, which as:

The top layer – It protects the sensor from damage. In addition, it reduces the amount of noise from the drumstick hitting the sensor.

The middle layer – It has a piece of metal, where is transmitting the shock from the stick into the piezo sensor.

The bottom layer – It keeps the drum pad from rattling on the table.

Net Radio – The Powerful MP3 Streaming Radio!

If you’re living in an area, where it always have a very bad radio covering, it might be a hassle to tune into your favorite FM/AM radio stations! Don’t be frustrated anymore, as it’s not good for your health. Plus, you should not getting angry, by this small matter.

Well, it’s time to say “Ta Ta” to the low quality broadcast radio, by developing a sophisticated net radio. Honestly, with the net radio, you can listen to MP3 streaming radio, which is broadcasting over the internet without a PC at all.

Net Radio

By the way, this is how the Net Radio works:

  • First of all, MP3 streams are received through an Ethernet link.

  • Then, an on-board MP3 decoder will decode the data.

  • Finally, the data will be outputting as an audio through a 3.5 mm stereo jack.

For your information, the Net Radio is built around an ATmega64L RISC microcontroller, where provides ample memory. The main reason why the ATmega64L was being used for this project is due to its low power consumption. By using the ATmega64L, it enables the Net Radio to be interfaced with low power commercial devices without any problem!

The even more interesting part about the Net Radio is it included with easy-to-use switch buttons and a color LCD. These two features will definitely wins many youngsters’ hearts for sure!
