Touchpad with Infrared Music Synthesizer

For those of you have always wondered, “Is it possible to generate music with our laptop touchpad?” Guess what; your doubt is solved here, as today we’re trying to build an incredible Touchpad with Infrared Music Synthesizer.

Basically, the touchpad with infrared music synthesizer uses a laptop and an infrared distance sensor to control various types of functions, including tone, volume and decay length of musical notes.

This device is operating in one of six modes, which is offering a variety of options for generating musical tones.

Touchpad with Infrared Music Synthesizer

It’s very simple to use the device. With only a swipe of fingertips, you can produce interesting music instantly.

Obviously, the main purpose of the Touchpad with Infrared Music Synthesizer is for illustrating a fun approach for music generation.

Those six modes that play in this device are standard, chords, harmonics, double harmonics, decaying harmonics and sinusoidal sound. Once you’ve restarting the device, the default mode of play is automatically in standard mode. It consists of four octaves of individual notes, which can be played according to touchpad positioning. In this case, you can select a new mode, by simply gliding your finger across the touchpad.

The device is built with two ATmega644 MCUs, where is used to control the sound generation and touchpad interfacing. In addition, DDS is necessary for this project, as it used for outputting values to a DAC0808 with a variable input reference voltage from the distance sensor.

POP3 Email Checker Based on an Arduino

In the past few decades, the snail mails are regarding as the most popular communication method. Honestly, most of the people got some new pen pals, thanks to the standard mails.

However, time flies by and the technology is already advanced onto another higher level. Nowadays, the snail mails are no longer popular as before. Instead, the Email service is becoming a new favor, especially for the younger generation.

So, if you’re one of those who always using POP3 Emails, then you should build a better Arduino POP3 Email Checker!

To be honest, this is not a completed task at all, as you only have to combine the Arduino with POP3 Email Checker. It’s probably the best device, especially for those who wants to use the Arduino to check the email and give some sort of visual indication of how many emails that you’ve received daily.

For the amateur home hobbyist, the Arduino code could be a little bit tricky, as you have to get the timing right and the number of emails out of the return string. However, you can easily solve up the problem by using the String library.

Well, we should better cut the craps and start working on the POP3 Email Checker right now. Hope you’ll love this project!

3D Wire Mesh Generator – The High End 3D Font Rasterization System

Nowadays, there are many things have been converted into 3D system. Even though the 3D technology is quite common, but not every person has the chance to get in touch with it!

Honestly, you’re very lucky today, as we’re about to develop an ultimate 3D Wire Mesh Generator. For your information, the main purpose of the project is to build a hardware transformation unit and a 3D font rasterization system on the Cyclone II FPGA.

Rasterization sample

Isn’t the 3D font rasterization system sounds strange for you? Well, it’s actually the process of converting text from a vector description, such as from the TrueType fonts to a raster/bitmap description. Normally, it always involved the anti-aliasing on screen text, as it makes it smoother and easier to be read by the reader. Sometimes, it may involve hinting, which is the use of information precomputed for a particular font size!

Amongst the rasterization forms, the simple line drawing with no anti aliasing is regarded as the simplest and fastest method of all. In the meantime, the 3D Wire Mesh Generator is being used to proportionally control the camera position and orientation with a 3-degree freedom of movement.

Delta bot – The Simple DIY Robot

Guys, do you have some times to spare in this weekend? If you did, would you mind to build a Delta bot by yourself at home?

Most of you might say it needs a lot of time to develop a robot. Well, would you be shocked, if the Delta bot can be completely done in less than 10 hours?

Basically, the Delta bot project is the replica of the industrial Delta robot, but we’re going to simplify the complicated development into a simple Delta bot.

In this case, those components you need here are:

  • Three servo’s actuators/output devices

  • A mouse

  • An Arduino Decimila

  • USB and Arduino servos.

In the beginning, you should assemble the three servos together with the aluminum strip. After it, use the metal base plate and install it onto the Delta bot, don’t forget to tight the nuts and bolts on as well!

It’s time to apply the Arduino into the Delta bot. Then, you have to program the Arduino, so it reads serial data. The mouse is going to help you to interface the serial data.
