Arduino based solar radio

Radios are cool devices especially if like to travel. The only problem is power supply. Usually radios are battery powered and without civilization near by you can run out of juices. So Simon started an Arduino based solar radio project. Probably nothing new here but there are few things to learn.

Radio is all about tuner and for this he have chosen a popular Si4703 chip with RDS functionality. Arduino was used to talk to radio tuner chip and display channel information of LCD screen. Radio is powered with rechargeable battery and solar panel. Obviously when there is move voltage from solar panel battery is charged and when dark comes radio sucks battery. Arduino reads battery and charging currents and displays them on LCD.
