Developing boards are great for learning microcontrollers or for doing fast tests on something new. Embedded-lab introduced a PIC16F1847 microcontroller breakout board which is simple, robust and has all it needs to get started with PIC16.

Breakout board has its 5V voltage regulator with LED indicator. Then follows basic stuff like reset button, ICSP and all pins broken out. There is a single LED available for doing fasts ‘led blink’ tests. And that’s it. The whole power resides in PIC MCU which has 14kB Flash, 1kB RAM, 256 EEPROM. Pin header may be changed to right hand version, then it becomes possible to plug this board to breadboard and do any prototyping without a drop of solder.
