Some time ago Matt has build an electric meat smoker with PID control. This time he decided to improve controller by adding couple features and giving ability for future upgrades.

His new controller is built around Arduino which reads grate and meat temperatures using thermocouples. Couple potentiometers allows to adjust temperature values to get best results. Real time clock gives time-stamps for logging data in to SD card. He things of adding a delay start feature and probably wifi for remote access. Heater is controlled using solid state relay. All necessary information about smoking/cooking progress is seen on 4×20 LCD screen. It needs couple final touches and tasty meat is guaranteed.
