There are lots of Arduino shields manufactured since Arduino appearance. Some of them are made in professional labs while others are contributed by hobbyists. Shields are great as they use standard layout that fit to Arduino platform. No need to deal with hardware the only focus can be made on software development. But there is one problem… there are so many shields developed in different places how do I know if there isn’t a ready-made shield I’m thinking of? Maybe there are more shields for similar functions?
To clear things out there is an Arduino Sields List website that tries to collect all available shields and make basic descriptions of them. Here you can already find over 86 shields from 48 manufacturers and this number seems to be growing. Shield information include: manufacturer, compatibility to Arduino platform, Arduino pins occupied and short functionality note. This is a great idea to synthesize such actual info that saves lots of precious time.
