Driving 7” display with touchscreen on Raspberry Pi

Raspberry Pi itself is a bare-bones computer with no means to read touch screen. Usually you plug HDMI monitor or using video RC jack. If you want to have touch interface you need to try a bit harder. Andrei found a solution to this challenge.

As end result he’s got Raspberry Pi running Raspbian + XBMC 12 and 7” eGalac touchscreen display. Touchscreen controller is connected through one of RasPi USB ports. Since everything else is pretty much working in modular way – touch screen had to be calibrated in order to match the screen. This required some math to be done and then patched to XBMC. With these efforts it came out to be pretty good media center.
