ERIC – a robotic dog run by two Mbed platforms

Eric is a result of two year Master’s Thesis work. Dog looks really professionally built. Its parts were custom designed and manufactured using CNC and 3D printing technologies. Eric has fifteen servo motors driving various joints. So he can walk, move his head and tail. Its is driven by two Mbed microcontroller boards. One is dedicated to controlling motion, while other takes care of environment recognition.

These include image recognition, voice commands and most important Larson scanners on eyes. As demo shows, dog can distinct objects from environment and move towards it.
