Having Fun With The LED matrix projector!

-->

You’re too bored with the life and like to have something more interesting or exciting in your home? If you’re a disco lover, then you might want to have a peek on this project!

Today, you’ll be involved in a fun LEDs related project, which is named “LED matrix Projector”. This LED Matrix Projector is a matrix that consists of 8 x 8 dual in red and green colors LEDs has the measurement of 5cm x 5cm!

The matrix is organized in 8 rows and 16 columns, where are 8 red and 8 green LEDs. If you want to address a single LED in the matrix, then you have to set one of the 16 column bits and enable the corresponding row. There is always only a single row active, and a steady picture will come into being, if every row is activated fast enough!

The shift register will be used to provide column data, the 16 bits data are loaded serially, and the put out in the parallel way! The whole rows are handled by an ULN2803, which it’s an array of Darlington transistors. This chip main function is to sink the current of the activated row! The best thing about using the ULN2803 is it can sink up to 500mA per channel and it’s definitely more than enough for this project!

After you’ve finished up this project, you then can turn your home into a disco whenever you want!
