Is Time To Know The Electronic Synthesizer Better!

You’re frequently involved with the Electronic Synthesizer, but you didn’t even know about the basic concept of it? Well, have you ever heard that is necessary to being know your companion better? Thus, you need to spend couple of minutes to read this through today…

Basically, the heart of the synthesizer is a set of two Analog Devices AD9850 direct digital synthesis or DDS chips. These will provide two channels of sinewave output, which it maybe differ in frequency and relative phase. Beside that, the output stage of the synthesizer includes separate variable attenuators for the two channels. Most of the attenuators have a range of 0.0 – 69.9 dB of attenuation, in the 0.1 dB steps.

Thus, you will have the control over five different parameters, which as:

  • Two output frequencies;
  • Two output attenuations; and
  • Relative phase between the two channels.

For this project, you’ll be using the Atmel AT89S8252 8051-architecture microcontroller. However, it won’t run on other 8051 derivates, as it takes advantage of special features of the AT89S8252. The device is contains 2K of EEPROM in addition to 8K of flash and 256 bytes of RAM.

Hope you’ll have a fun moment with this project!
