It’s Time to Carry Out The Simulation of Ideal Gas Particles!

When we’re at the senior high school, the physics teacher might have taught something about the forms of solid, liquid and gas! Well, if you still remember what the Physics’s teacher said, those three materials can be existed in different formation, which is depending on the room’s temperature!

So, guys! Today’s we’re back to the past again, where you’re having the chance to test out the stimulation of Ideal Gas Particles here.

Unlike those laboratory test, this project is carried out on a VGA monitor. The main purpose is to stimulate an ideal gas, and displays moving white pixels that represent particles in an ideal gas through the VGA monitor. In addition, it also can be used to perform the proper calculation, especially when the ideal gas are collided on each other or within the edge of the VGA monitor screen!

First of all, you have to build a state machine on the DE2 development board. This state machine is responsible for keeping track of the particle coordinates and velocities in m4k blocks.

By the way, if you’ve encountered the inaccuracy in the distance approximation in collisions, then you should shift the dot product by different amounts according what range the distance. Never underestimate the small inaccuracy, as it might cause the particles to lose energy over time!
