Kitchen timer with graphical LCD
Alan wanted something different than standard kitchen timer. He had a graphical LCD he purchased some time ago. An Atmega328 microcontroller seemed to be more than enough to drive LCD and keep track of time.
Three momentary buttons give fast and intuitive user interface. One button increments timer by 5 minutes, another by 15 sec and third is start/stop button. The intent was to generate sounds using YMZ294 chip but eventually he ended with fun tweak. In a pile Alan found a key chain which plays supermario music. Opto-coupler and two wires made it possible to trigger. It looks really nice in a custom plexiglass enclosure. Wife definitely loves it.
