The Arduino Duemilanove is it has fourteen digital I/O pins and six of the I/O pins can be used as PWM outputs. Beside that, it has six analog inputs, a 16MHz crystal oscillator, a USB connection, a power jack, an ICSP header and a reset button as well! Basically, it contains almost everything that is needed to support the microcontroller. Thus, you can simply connect it to a computer with a USB cable or try to power it with an AC to DC adapter to get it started.
