For your information, this Puzzlemation is not just an ordinary tile display, but it is an expandable platform of light and animation. Hence, it can be used to build modular animated signs, puzzles and much more (Yeah, it sounds thrilling and exciting, isn’t it?)

Basically, the system has two main components, the main PIC24FJ64GA002-based tray and the tiles that can be separated. All the tiles are based on 2″ square 8×8 LED displays. The PIC24FJ64GA004 is responsible driving the LEDs under each display. Since each tile is individually powered and animated, thus you can pick them up and re-assemble whenever you want it to be!

However, before you set up a display, the tiles must be placed in a special tray. Animations are being downloaded into the tray via Ethernet. After it, it stored locally on an SD card. The tray will broadcast the animation to each of the tiles, and synchronizes them in the range of order.

The best part of this Puzzlemation is you can pick up the tiles, place them anywhere, once the animation is synchronized and running on the tiles.
