Human beings are the very intelligent living species. They’ve invented, renovated and discovered many wonderful things, especially in the past few millenniums.

For simplifying the works, people starting to categorize different things into a certain niche/field. Let’s take an example, numerical control (NC) is referring to the automation of machine tools, which are operated by abstractly programmed commands that already encoded on a storage medium.

According to the NC history, the very first NC machine was built in the 1940s. It’s based on existing tools that was modified with motors, and moved the controls to follow certain points fed into the system on paper tape.

Things are rapidly change, especially after the creation of the modern Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machine tools. It brought the design process into the next level.

The Arduino board is a standard single side board and you can get it anywhere in the electronic stores. The motor boards are unique, as you have to design it by yourself! Basically, they are based on an Attiny 2313 and I298.

By the way, if you want to save more cost for the project, it’s a good choice to build your own controller. In this case, you can control all three axis, by using only two wires through the I2C protocol!
